About our Airbnb space: The Piggery

Our Airbnb space: The Piggery is self-contained and open plan.

It is light and airy, provides a sleeping area with super comfy king size bed, cosy sitting area with sofas and a cooking and dining space, leading to an en suite shower room, handbasin, heated towel rail and toilet.

The kitchen has basic pots and pans, utensils, kitchen towel, salt and pepper. There is a small worktop oven and hob and a microwave, suitable for creating a basic healthy meal but not necessarily entertaining or cooking a roast. Glasses, mugs, crockery, kettle and tea, coffee and sugar sachets are supplied complimentary and I usually leave croissants and apricot jam and milk in the fridge for your first breakfast.

We encourage recycling and composting in supplied collectors under the sink and there is a bistro table and chairs outside to use as an outdoor eating area. There is also free parking alongside the accommodation.

The Piggery is set in glorious Suffolk countryside with farmland surrounding us and a network of byways, bridleways, footpaths and quiet lanes to explore and enjoy.  Coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are also only an hour away and Norfolk beaches 90 minutes away.

In the summer, the sunshine keeps The Piggery at a comfortable temperature, windows and doors can always be opened to cool the space if it is too hot for our guests and the thermostatically controlled radiator will turn itself on if the ambient temperature drops below 22 degrees C. And if you need a heat boost late evening or when the weather is inclement, there is a portable gas stove to use for a boost.

The radiator is designed to be controlled by a mobile app and unfortunately cannot be manually altered but it is set to provide heat at between 17 and 22 degrees at appropriate times of the day and night to keep our guests comfortable.

Because The Piggery is wooden built and open plan although it is a perfect temperature in spring, summer and autumn, it is cooler in the winter, being influenced by the weather outside and more of a challenge to keep warm. There is a mobile gas stove to bring extra warmth to the living space and a snuggle blanket but when the winter sunshine is not enough, our guests need to be a bit more inventive and we encourage them to bring some extra layers, cardigans/jumpers, slippers and appropriate warm clothes to ensure their comfort in winter.

We still think the effort is worth it for the ambiance and the outlook and the bed!

Because of our heating challenges in winter and weather dependent fluctuations, we are happy for guests to book with us - because The Piggery really is a lovely space -  and cancel last minute if the weather is too chilly to make their stay comfortable.
